Meet Marissa McCormick
This week we are featuring sisters from the Zeta Tau Alpha sorority. Marissa is urban grunge with a passion for music and authenticity.
Year: Senior
Personal style in one word (or a couple): Comfortable, staple pieces that I can wear a lot. Mostly black. Sometimes in the summertime, it’s bohemian. But in the winterttime, it’s all black because it matches and is easy.
Why is personal style important to you: I think it’s a way to express your creativity without carrying it around.
Style icon: I love Rihanna’s style.
Dream vacation: I would like to go to Greece where "Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants" was filmed and I can meet a Kostas and we can eat Greek food and baklava and ride a donkey. Hummus would also be included in the trip. I would also be in really great shape. I would also have a great job after school that someone paid me to go on this vacation. We live in the South of France so it’s an easy commute.
A trend you wouldn't try: Sneaker wedges. It’s a “secret height” and I don’t need that.
Favorite stores to shop at: Topshop and Free People.
First date outfit: I would wear a pair of jeans, flat boots and a sweater or tank top-sweater combo. Wearing a dress would be too fancy. Where do you find inspiration for your personal style: I like when I go to shows and I see what the lead singer is wearing because it’s usually cool and out there. I like to look at The Sartorialist blog.
Daily makeup routine: I wake up, I put my contacts in. I do liquid eyeliner, mascara and eye shadow and bronzer. I usually do my hair, too.
What do you feel most comfortable in: A very big sweater and jeans and boots. I have this one pair of ripped jeans that are my favorite in the world. I have a weakness for big sweaters.
How would you describe Zeta’s style: Pretty stylish. I think for the most part, we are pretty trendy and cool.
